United Players: Moon for the Misbegotten
Eugene O'Neill's great American classic is brought to life again in a fresh new production by one of Vancouver's best amateur/professional theatre companies. "Moon" had a recent revival on Broadway with Kevin Spacey in the lead role. Now you can see it in Vancouver. Quick-tongued Irish belle Josie has injured her reputation and won’t marry – not even if Jim Tyrone, the young, rich landlord, happened to propose. But that won’t stop her father, hard-drinkin’ tenant farmer Phil Hogan, from cooking up a matchmaking plot...of sorts. Award-winning Vancouver director Jack Paterson will captivate audiences with this tale of passion and old-time scheming out on the farm in 1920s Connecticut. Also a poignant love story, A Moon for the Misbegotten is considered Nobel Prize-winner Eugene O’Neill’s most honest, lyrical play.
At 48 seasons strong, United Players is a pillar of Vancouver’s theatre community and a showcase for prime local talent. Cast for A Moon for the Misbegotten are Corina Akeson (Josie), Mike Wasko (Tyrone), Michael Kopsa (Phil Hogan), Troy Young (Harder) & Adam Bergquist (Mike Hogan), with stage management by Linda Bakker, set by John R. Taylor, costume design by Nykiya Graham, lighting design by Jesse Frank, and sound by Jeff Tymoschuk.
