The architecture, rocks, plants and water are artfully combined in a serene and striking setting, Modelled on one of the great Classical Gardens in Bejing. The Vancouver Maritime Museum focuses on the Pacific coast's maritime history, culture, technology and art. For children there is the 'hands on' Maritime Discovery Centre, and various other exhibits showcase various types of shipping topics in the region, including shipwrecks, lighthouses, pirates and deep sea exploration.

This museum has been fully restored to its late Victorian splendour. Designed by the famous architect Francis Rattenbury the house is Queen Anne Revival style. The houses garden has also been authentically landscaped to reflect the time the house was built. Roedde House is part of Barclay Heritage Square that includes nine historic homes.

The Model Ships Museum is home to an impressive international collection of model ships, submarines, battleships, warships and toy boats. The Ships Museum features large scale models of HMS Bounty, Bismark, nuclear submarines, aircraft carriers, warships, sailing vessels, and various coastal work boats and tugs. A hobby enthusiasts dream. The showpiece of the museum is a 13 foot long cast bronze replica of HMS Hood.
